Military Pay Chart: Largest Pay Raise In A Decade
President Biden signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2023, which ensures that members of the military will receive a 4.6% pay raise in 2023. Both the House and Senate have approved the bill, and the Senate is due to vote on the 15th of December
That's the biggest increase in military pay in 20 years, but it may not be enough to keep up with inflation, which was 7.1% in November, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The legislation was signed into law by President Biden in late December 2022, allowing the increases to take effect on January 1, 2023. Members of the military will receive their first increased pay on January 13, 2023.
The following salary tables include basic military pay only. They do not take into account non-taxable allowances such as BAS or BAH.

General Officer Salary Limits: Base salary is capped at the base salary for Level II of the Executive Service Schedule in effect during calendar year 2023 for officers in pay grades O-7 through O-10. This includes officers who serve as the chairman or vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the chief of staff of the army, the chief of naval operations, the chief of staff of the air force, the commander of the Marine Corps, the commander. of the Coast Guard, the head of the National Guard Agency, or the commander of a unified or designated combatant command (as defined in 10 U.S.C. 161(c)).
Salary Limits for O-6: Base pay for O-6 and below is limited by Level V of the Executive Schedule effective through calendar year 2023.
Combat Zone Exemption Pay for Officers: The Combat Zone Tax Exemption for O-1 and above is based on the basic rate of pay shown in Note 3 plus hostile fire or imminent danger pay, which is $225.00 per month (prorated).
Academy and ROTC Cadet Base Salary: The base salary for Academy Cadet/Liaison and ROTC members and applicants is $1,218.

Previously enlisted officers may be eligible for higher pay based on length of service and other criteria. The pay scale offers the following grade:
